Istruzioni osmosi

Please Note

  • The system     should be connected only to the cold water feed (maximum 30°C).  Doing otherwise will diminish the     effectiveness of the filtration and can accelerate degradation of the     membrane.
  • Check that     the membrane is inserted fully before screwing on the lid of the container     (4).  (The central tube of the     membrane should be level with the edge of the lidless container).
  • Do not over     tighten the connections (in particular the elbow connection – Flow     Restrictor); if once installed the system should leak, use plumbers’     Teflon tape.
  • Before     connecting it to the membrane, run water through the carbon filter to     rinse out any possible impurities.
  • The osmotic      and residual water must always be allowed to flow freely: never close the      tubes with taps or suchlike.
  • Protect the      membrane from freezing and from drying out.  After its first use, the membrane must      never be allowed to dry out.
  • The PH value      of permeate is not predictable. High PH values can be easily lowered with      CO2. If the PH value is too low, air the water well.
  • Reverse      Osmosis technology cannot eliminate unusually high concentrations of      individual components, for example, high levels of silica or nitrate.
  • Do not leave      the apparatus unattended during use.
  • Do not use      water for alimentary purposes.
  • Use only      original replacement parts.
  • Change the      sediment pre-filter and carbon filter regularly.  The activated carbon filter serves to      retain chlorine, which, if allowed to pass, would cause irreparable damage      to the microstructure of the membrane.       Salts would not be retained as effectively as possible, and the      micro-siemens value of the treated water would rise.

Installation Instructions

1                Feed from water supply (red stopper)
2                Sedimentation pre-filter
3                Activated Carbon filter
4                Flushing Valve
5                Osmotic membrane
6                Filtered – Osmotic water (blue stopper)
7                Concentrate – Wastewater with Flow Restrictor valve (black stopper)
8                NO3-PO4-SiO2  Filter

Remove all colored stoppers.

In our systems, water enters from the water supply via a universal connector (inside a plastic bag) made of a non-toxic resin and passes through a sedimentation pre-filter (2) that traps particles larger than 0.005 mm (5 microns).  (the RO Basic haven’t the sediment filter; in this case the the activated carbon filter works also as a mechanical filter to eliminate particles larger than 5 microns).  After this initial purification, the water passes through an activated carbon cartridge (3) that removes chlorine and also eliminates traces of pesticides, herbicides, metals, and bad tastes and/or odours that water can acquire.  After passing through the carbon filter, the water is forced under pressure through a special membrane (5) that allows only pure water through.  Substances that cause hard water as well as toxic materials such as carbonate, salts, sulphates, heavy metals, pesticides, and even viruses and bacteria are trapped and eliminated with the wastewater.  Please, pay attention to introduce the membrane in the properly side. The membrane has got two O-ring in both sides : the side wiht the bigger O-ring goes UP , while the side with the smaller O-Ring goes down. To realise the benefits, the quality of the osmotic membrane is of the utmost importance: the membranes used in our units (polyamide/polysulphone) are extremely resistant to bacterial action, have a long life, are easy to store, and remain unchanged for years.  Once treated, the water is channelled into the central tube of the osmosis unit and exits via the central conduit (6).  When putting the apparatus into use for the first time, open the taps and run water through the system for at least two hours to completely eliminate the dry material that preserves the membrane; during which time verify that the quantity of water flowing through the waste water ducts (7) is at least quadruple the amount of osmotic water. We suggest to use the Osmosis system at least once a week for 30 minutes. If the system has not been used for a period of more than 14 days, the osmosis water should be drained off for 5 minutes before being used again.

If the system is not used for long periods, please ensure that the membrane remains wet putting the 3 colored stoppers.

Osmosis System with NO3-PO4-SiO2 Filter:
When putting the apparatus into use for the first time, before to connect the Osmotic water to the NO3-PO4-SiO2 filter (8), run the System for about 2 hours to completely eliminate the dry material that preserves the membrane and that could damage the NO3-PO4-SiO2 filter.

Osmosis System with Flushing Valve:
For normal operation, the flushing valve (white / blue tap) (4) must be closed.
Washing the membrane makes the Osmosis System more efficient: by opening the valve all the water will be discarded, carrying salts and anything else accumulated in the membrane. This is an easy and fast way to clean the membrane from any residue, stretching its life. The table below shows the frequency of washing.
